Good News for Women’s – Old Age Pension Starting Again

Old Age Pension: The Jharkhand government has taken a major decision regarding pensions for women. Currently, in the state, all categories of women except SC and ST will be given old age pension at 50.

The decision was approved at a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of CM Hemant Soren. Approximately 18 million people benefited from this scheme.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel said about 18 million people would benefit if the Cabinet approves the Ministry of Women, Child Development and Social Security’s proposal.

Dadel said she had supported the Cabinet’s proposal to amend the existing regulations. The eligibility age for old age pension has been lowered for all women and people belonging to ST and SC categories.

The decision was made almost a month later. When CM Hemant Soren announced on the fourth anniversary of his government on December 29 that tribals and Dalits in the state would become eligible for pension upon reaching the age of 50, earlier this pension was available from the age of 60. It was possible to receive benefits.

Officials said that a total of 3.568 million beneficiaries are currently availing pension benefits in the state. The past four years under Soren have seen an increase of about 82 per cent.

Apart from this, the CM approved a total of 25 proposals. One of the important decisions is the relaxation of the age limit of 7 years for students in the upcoming Jharkhand Civil Service Commission civil service examination. The deadline for the maximum age limit for students has been fixed on August 1, 2017, and the deadline for the minimum age limit on August 1, 2024.
